Lancaster Indie Arts and Creative House of Lancaster Hold Community Arts Market

Lancaster, PA. October 10, 2007—Local artists are getting into the team spirit this holiday season. Lancaster Indie Arts and the Creative House of Lancaster have joined forces to host the Community Arts Market at Eastern Market, held 10 a.m.—4 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 and Saturday, December 15. This free event will feature art, crafts, food and live music, all housed in the historic Eastern Market building at 308 East King Street in downtown Lancaster.

Around 50 vendors will sell a variety of unique handcrafted gift items during “Winter Wonderland,” including paintings, collage, handbags, pottery and indie clothing. The ThrowBacks, Chris Scheler and the Millersville-based trio DRBE will provide musical entertainment. Guests can also purchase local and ethnic fare, including gourmet coffee from True Espresso Roaster and Café.

Artists Debbie Serdy and Rachel Kantner founded Lancaster Indie Arts about a year and a half ago, identifying the group as a close-knit organization of independent artists who encourage one another’s growth and success in the community. When LIA learned of the Creative House of Lancaster, a social networking group formed last summer, they invited its members to collaborate on the Community Arts Market.

“I knew the community arts market would be too big a job for our small organization, so I reached out to the Creative House of Lancaster,” Serdy said. “I love that the event, like both of our groups, is planned by artists, for artists. Working together, we’ve been able to accomplish so much more than we ever could alone.”

More information about Lancaster Indie Arts and its members can be found online at www.lancasterindiearts.com.
