November Meeting Recap

November 15 will go down in CHL history as the night we tried speed networking and sort of got it right. I have to give you all credit for bearing with us and for putting yourselves out there. It takes a little something special to line up in rows ,yell above the noise, and try to connect with 30+ people in a matter of minutes. It woudn't have been possible if it wasn't for  Max Phillips who kept the line moving - a big shout out to Max.   Considering the conditions, I think it went really well, in fact I had a blast! With that said I know we have a few things to work on, so in 2008 we'll be trying speed networking again but this time in a very large room.

Meeting Recap:

The night started with introductions than we went over all the upcoming events. The Community Arts Market on Dec 15, which will be held at Eastern Market from 10-4pm. There is free admission and free parking so come on out, get a little holiday shopping done, and support your community by buying local and buying handmade. We have a bunch of really talented vendors looking forward to seeing your smiling faces; come enjoy the live music and good food.

We also discussed the upcoming Holiday Party & Award Show (tickets still available) set for December 14 at the Keystone Art & Culture Center. This is a ticketed event with all proceeds going to the Andrew Yeager Fund. Andrew Yeager is an artist who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. This is going to be a great party with live music, good food and drinks, and two tickets are only 50 bucks – you can't beat that! This party takes the place of the CHL meeting for Dec. so we'll only meet on Dec. 14 .

After talking about the award show and holiday party I made a call out for volunteers. We need people to volunteers to help setup the Community Arts Market. Thanks to those who helped on Nov 23  and we are still in need of volunteers Dec. 14 from  5-9 (if you're coming to the CHL holiday party you can leave at 6).

We also need help on December 14 at the Keystone Art & Culture Center to help setup for the party. If you can volunteer even an hour of your time please contact me at anne@thechl.org , and I'll be sure to sign you up. I'll give free advertisement in our holiday event booklet to anyone who gives a least an hour of their time to help us out. If we want to do some amazing things, we need your support!

Some updates for December : We're working on a photo shoot of downtown during the holiday season so the date for that will be coming out soon.

Events for 2008: We'll be scheduling workshops for our members and nonmembers coming up in 2008. A list of workshops and schedules will be posted on the website  in December. We're discussing a possible road trip to New York, some CHL competitions, more Art in the Bar shows and much, much more. 2008 is going to be an amazing year with many more wonderful CHL events so stay tuned.

After all the announcements were made, we all lined up for some speed networking then opened the floor for social networking.

I have to say it's always a pleasure seeing the same smiling faces each month, and I'm so excited that we have so many new faces at each meeting. It‘s such a wonderful group that is made possible by it great members. You are the CHL, and I thank you for letting me be a part of it.

A special thank you to Annie Bailey's and our bartender Phil who helped make our night a success. Todd Spitler for taking photos and documenting our meetings, Max Phillips for helping to keep us in line, literally, Jennifer McMorris for all her hard work on the Holiday Party that's coming up and to all of you who came out to our last meeting to meetup and get to know some new people – it was another great meeting.

Looking forward to seeing you all on December 14!

Cheers,

Anne
